As noted in the above YouTube video, a recent Ipsos Reid survey revealed that 56% of Ontarians mistakenly believe HST applies to the full purchase price of resale homes. The survey was commissioned by the Ontario Real Estate Association in an effort to convince the Ontario government to launch a public awareness campaign to educate taxpayers and put an end to the confusion.

Toronto Real Estate Market Report: October 2010 Mid-Month Statistics

Following is TREB’s market report for mid-October 2010: Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 3,012 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) during the first two weeks of October 2010. This represented a 17 per cent decrease compared to the 3,631 sales recorded during the same period in 2009. Year-to-date sales amounted to 71,988, representing a three per cent increase compared to 2009.

Generally, this comes in the form of them wanting to sell the home I helped them buy a few years ago and move up to something bigger. While this particular buying/selling scenario is not uncommon, it does have its own unique set of factors to keep in mind. The easiest way to explore these is with the question, “Should I buy first or should I sell first?”
Toronto Real Estate Market Report: September 2010 Statistics

Following is TREB’s market report for September 2010: Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 6,310 sales through the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in September 2010. This represented a 23 per cent decrease compared to the 8,196 sales recorded during the same period in 2009. Through the first nine months of the year, sales amounted to 69,069 – up four per cent compared to the first three quarters of 2009.
